Birth Stories

Mary Olivia

Hi Leslie,

Just a quick note that my daughter, Mary Olivia, was born at 4:40 am on Monday 1/11. She is 8 lbs 5 oz and 20.5 inches long. Photo attached!

My due date was 1/7 and I was unexpectedly checked into St. Mary's on Friday 1/8 due to pregnancy-induced hypertension (not preeclampsia but they were worried it was heading that way), and put on hospital bed rest for two days. In hindsight I am glad for the two days of forced relaxation! They scheduled me for an induction the morning 1/12 but Mary decided to make an appearance on her own. Labor started around 7 PM on the 10th and she was born at 4:40 AM on the 11th.

We are thrilled with our little girl and enjoying getting to know her. I'm looking forward to getting back to yoga soon, hopefully doing some of the mom & baby classes, once she's big enough. The prenatal class was always a highlight of my week and was so helpful physically and emotionally throughout my pregnancy.

Thank you for everything!

I was new to Richmond when I took my first round of classes with Leslie and baby #1 (now twenty one months). I'm now almost 5 mos. pregnant with #2 and will sign-up soon. I loved being around other pregnant women and embracing our natural state. I also met some great friends in my neighborhood through the classes, and we really have a wonderful foundation to our friendship through experiencing the class together.
